# Metal L2

> Metal L2 is an EVM-compatible blockchain network in the Metallicus ecosystem. The MIP-002 “Homecoming” proposal describes its transition from the OP Stack toward a sovereign Metal Blockchain subnet while preserving EVM compatibility and closer alignment with the Metal ecosystem.
